For years I have been a true and loyal user of Pond’s Cold Cream. There has been nothing to meet its match in my mind. A product that could pull up the heaviest of makeup, clean my skin without drying it and not clog my pores…heaven sent. Yes, I have tried others throughout the years but nothing quite met the high standards of Pond’s Cold Cream. Others were drying or sticky or didn’t take away all of my makeup. I stopped fighting it and stuck with the product that was good enough for the likes of Bette Davis (look her up kids, she’s legendary).
Then it happened, heaven-sent something else to finally test my loyalty. In my October Boxycharm delivery, I found this plain white container with a simple label, “GREEN CLEAN, Makeup Meltaway Cleansing Balm” by Farmacy. I was ready to put it to the test and then go back to my tried and true cold cream. I put this new product through a serious test. Since it arrived in October, the first time I used it was to remove my FrankenGlam makeup. If it could take away a face and neck full of green makeup I’d give it another go.
I could not believe how quickly this balm was pulling my makeup up just by applying to dry skin and massaging it around. It quickly went from balm to an oily substance as it started the makeup melting process. I was a little wary because I have gigantic pores on my cheeks, and oil is not something I am a fan of putting on my face. I moved on to the next step which was to add water to begin to wash everything away. Much to my delight, adding water created a lather that felt more like a cleanser than an oil. I finished the lather and rinse to reveal a clean and glowing face.
In one try, this little container of balm had blown me away. I continued to use for one week to see if my fear of clogged pores would become a reality. I am now a faithful user, though I have not thrown out my Pond’s yet (she’s been so good to me).
My New Best Friend
Farmacy started in upstate New York when an event planner stumbled upon a plant that turned out to be a stronger version of the echinacea plant that is 300 times stronger. The owner, Mark Veeder, quickly patented the plant which they now call Echinacea GreenEnvy™. The company’s goal was to bring farm-to-skin products to everyone and Sephora helped them do just that when they launched in 2015. Currently, Farmacy’s line is focused on skincare with cleansers, masks, moisturizers and some specialty products including anti-aging. Their use of Echinacea GreenEnvy™ along with honey makes for some seriously green, vegan-friendly, and cruelty-free products. I’m excited to try more and see more from this company in the future.
